Making the leap from your job to a full time freelance career can be daunting to say the least. Here are six steps to make the transition as smooth and easy as possible.

1. Start looking for ways to invest in your dream. If you still have a job but have plans to quit then start saving to buy the things you’ll need when you start your copywriting career. This could be anything from purchasing the necessary training to upgrading your computer.

Stop buying work clothing and save by taking a packed lunch to work.

2. Set up a home office.
This could be a dedicated room or even the corner of the diningroom. You’ll need a desk, a comfortable chair, space to store reference materials etc.

3. Leave on a good note.
As tempting as it can be to tell the boss to shove it, resist the urge to do so. It’s important to maintain good relationships at your old job as it is to build new ones. You never know, your old employer may just turn out to be your best client or a great source of referrals.

4. Start collecting your junk mail.
I’m serious. Start saving all the direct mail salesletters that you receive in the mail. File them or keep them in a shoebox.

Ask your neighbors, friends and family members to save their junk mail for you.

Spend just 15 minutes a day reading and analyzing the salesletters. You’ll be amazed at how much you learn and how your own

5. Start copying winning controls by hand.
I know that this may sound trite and stupid but it’s THE MOST POWERFUL exercise you can do to master the art of copywriting. Doing this will help to hard wire the flow and feel of good copy into your subconscious mind in a way that nothing else can. You will notice things that you would have never noticed otherwise.

To really get the most out of this technique, read each letter out loud a minimum of 10 times and then it out at least 3 times.

And don’t make the mistake of copying just any letter that arrives in your inbox. Some of them are “bombs”. Only copy proven winners.

I suggest that you not only read and copy out the letters but that you also analyze each one. Use different color highlighters to do this. For example, highlight benefits in pink, proof in blue, use purple for the call to action and false close, yellow for the guarantee etc.

6. Start establishing vital contacts.
A good first contact for copywriters would be a graphic designer. You can pass work on to each other. You can start establishing your network locally and online.

I’ve been a freelance writer since 1993 and starting writing SEO content for clients in 2007. When I first got started in this niche, it was all about keywords. As in, clients would basically give you a set of keywords and give you free reign to write what you wanted – as long as it showed their company in a good light and was beneficial to the end user (ie, web surfers).

Back then, clients knew that keyword-rich articles drove web traffic (and sales), so they’d commission SEO writers to pump it out in great volume. Search engine optimization is maturing as an industry though. And, one of the main changes I see happening as an SEO writer is that clients are investing in “SEO content strategies.” What is this?

What Is a Content Strategy?

Wikipedia defines a content strategy as “the practice of planning for content creation, delivery, and governance” and “a repeatable system that defines the entire editorial content development process for a website development project.”

Freelance SEO Writers: 3 Reasons a Content Strategy Means More Work & Higher Pay for You

If you’re an SEO writer, you want clients who have developed a content strategy because it signals good things for you, namely:

(i) You’ll develop long-term clients: When clients have a plan for their content, they tend to think in terms of “campaigns” rather than one-off articles. And, if you’re the SEO writer they hire, you’ll likely be around for a while.

(i) You’ll get more SEO writing jobs from clients like this: When clients think in terms of campaigns, they tend to order more content. More content means more work for you as an SEO copywriter.

(iii) You can charge more for writing SEO content: You’ll be able to charge more because clients are going to want more in-depth content. You see, search engines like Google reward content that is well-rounded, not just stuffed with a certain keyword phrase.

Also, search engines are trending towards ranking longer content. No more short, keyword-stuffed articles that say practically nothing which are written just to get a page to the top of search results. Search engines are smarter now.

Conclusion

The bottom line is, companies are pouring more and more of their marketing dollars into search engine optimization. And, content marketing is getting a huge share of these dollars. All of this means it’s a great time to be an SEO writer.

Yuwanda Black has been a freelancer writer since 1993. She blogs about SEO writing at SeoWritingJobs.com and is the author of the best-selling ebook, “How to Make $250+/Day Writing Simple, 500-Word Articles, which can be found a http://inkwelleditorial.com/e11-excerpt.

Imagine your viewers clicking on YOUR landing page, intoxicated by the vexing placement of your ads and the purposeful architecture of each slogan. Everything is so carefully organized and planned out that its sole effect is to hypnotize the viewer and make him question whether they can still go on with their lives without trying out what you are offering them.

On this website I will try to explain to you the factors that determine us to buy things, and how YOU can be in total control of people’s emotion and how to make them want to buy whatever you’re selling.

To fully comprehend what’s a well built Opt in page, you will need to learn on how to successfully integrate your product with two of the most essential factors that make us buy things:

The desire to succeed, and the pursuit of pleasure.

Although there is a vast possibility through which we can determine the meaning of our desires (The common umbrella term is happiness, have you heard of it?) I went with the follwoing two sub-sections because of the reason that I truly believe that these are the best way in explaining the buyer’s true intentions.

You can create categories until you get sick and tired, but to keep a form of simplicity, I will talk about some more on the two things from above before we raise the bar a bit.

The two most important driving factors:

1. The Desire to Succeed:

The association that the buyer makes between your product and the attainment of happiness, is through his own advancement. The things I’m talking about can be found in the form of articles and self-help e-books. Your service or product has the ability of making your visitor’s personal life progress in a faster and more better way, instead of it not progressing at all if it weren’t for whatever you are selling.

Whether if it’s in their professional or personal life, people always have a clear picture of the end result being a combination of determination and the final action. What you have to do is to make them believe that whatever they’re trying to achieve can be done with your product and only with it.

2. The pursuit of pleasure:

The name says it all. We all have a very big list of things that make us warm inside. They make our living more easy and fun and they define our lives in terms of where we want to be heading.

To want to be successful is one aspect of reaching happiness, but it also has to do with long term results which in the end will let you live the live you always wanted to live. You may not be able to have everything you want right now, but at least you can have THIS (your product).

That is my introduction to the psychology section of this website.

If you read through each article on this website and do not come across at least one thing that you can learn from and implement to sell your product more efficiently, My question to you is; What is such and successful person doing reading tips on landing page design?
