New writers commonly don’t know that how to get published and often make their writings worthless in market by making a general mistake. What mistake they make and how it happens? Suppose you are a writer and have finished your first book. Now you are intended to publish your book so you may get reward of your book in terms of money, fame and respect. You contact a publisher; propose him an offer to publish your book directly. He asks you to submit your work done for review and decide about. You make it and wait for response of publisher. One day, you receive a letter mentioning that publisher has rejected your offer. It happens in almost all the cases of this nature.
Let me tell a tip to those who want to know that how to write a book and how to choose a topic of book. Plan nothing, just hold the pen, arrange paper sheets and start writing and continue it until you feel that you have nothing more to write about. Adjourn this session for some time and go out for a little refreshment and forget everything you have wrote down. In the next sitting, observe the papers you wrote in last session just like a critic. Try to find out the inclination of information and interest of writer hidden in the lines. You will obviously find out what the writer want to say and write. Of course, this should be the topic of your book.
Why it happens so? Fact is that the publishers are basically “literary businessmen” and publish only those books which they think in their favor. Offers made directly to them are called unsolicited submissions. Publishers examine the quality and innovation of writings themselves through their staff. If they feel flaws in writing or monetary risk in publishing, they simply refuse. Now what is the solution of this problem for those who want to know the safe passage for how to get published?
Solution to this problem is present and there is no need to worry about. Don’t go to a publisher directly. Always hire a literary agent, discuss your book with him, answer the questions asked by him and then finally contract a commission with him. The literary agents are qualified persons with strong literary background mostly critics and work for the good of writers. Your literary agent will examine your book and demand you to remove the technical mistakes, wrong statements of historical facts etc. After this, he will contact a publisher though proper legal procedure and submit a solicited offer. Publishers do trust upon literary agents because of their experience. In case a publisher disagrees with some contents of your book, your literary agent will act to change his consent through discussion. Don’t bother the commission of literary agent at all if you are a new writer and don’t know well that how to get published.
